Building Community in our Classrooms

Sound Vision Canada is delighted to offer a free online teacher training event with Islamic school principal, Sadia Khan.

This interactive session explores practical ways to intentionally build strong classroom communities where students feel seen, valued, connected, and responsible for one another. Participants will explore ways to strengthen trust, belonging, communication, and positive classroom culture through relationship-building strategies, team challenges, reflection activities, shared values, and student leadership opportunities.

Educators, school leaders, and aspiring teachers are all welcome to join.

Participants will learn practical strategies to:

• build stronger relationships
• foster teamwork and empathy 
• create shared expectations
• encourage student ownership and leadership
• develop a classroom culture rooted in respect, connection, and belonging

Sadia Khan is an educator, school leader, and certified life coach who currently serves as Principal of Gibraltar Leadership Academy’s Durham Campus. She holds a Master of Education from the University of Southern California where she specialized in curriculum development. She is also an Ontario Certified Teacher with additional qualifications in mentorship, autism, assessment and evaluation, adult education, and the integration of technology.

Sadia is passionate about building strong, connected school communities where students and educators feel seen, valued, and empowered. Her leadership and professional learning work centres on intentional classroom culture, student belonging, relationship-building, faith-centred education, and thoughtful curriculum design that supports both academic growth and the development of the whole child.
