Mark your calendars for Aug. 30 & Aug. 31, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm! In partnership with Ummah Nabawiah Masjid, we’re delighted to offer a two-day teacher training program with experts Imam Belal Ahmad, Dr. Fadwa Elashi, and Beena Ahmed.
Imam Belal Ahmad is an Islamic scholar, school administrator, and khateeb. He currently serves as the principal of an elementary school within the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. In addition to his role in education, he runs an after-school maktab program at a local masjid in Hamilton and regularly delivers khutbas at various masajid in the area. Imam Belal is also a director of the Canadian Council of Muslim Theologians (CCMT), where he leads the organization’s education department.
Dr. Fadwa Elashi is a former assistant professor of developmental psychology with five years of experience teaching courses on educational psychology, learning through play, and child development. She has published several peer-reviewed research articles in the field of child development and often reviews manuscripts for consideration for publication in major academic journals. Her profound passion for fostering optimal and equitable learning environments for all children is what drove her to establish Nectar Education.
Beena Ahmed has been an educator for more than 15 years and currently works with the Peel Board of Education. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum Pedagogy and Teacher Development from OISE. She started her career working at an Islamic School teaching various grades, later being promoted to take on a school leadership position as a vice-principal. Beena is passionate about teacher professional growth and development; she continues to work with organizations that invest in promoting teaching as a lifelong learning process.
