SUMMARY:Financial Oversight for Muslim Board Members
DESCRIPTION:Building Stronger Muslim Charities & Masjids in Canada\nSound Vision Canada is excited to offer online learning opportunities to help build stronger Muslim charities and masjids across the country. Despite the growth and importance of masjids and Muslim charities in Canada\, many boards struggle with lack of formal training. This gap often leads to financial mismanagement risks and weakened community trust. \nJoin us for a structured multi-workshop professional development program to address the challenges associated with a lack of training.  \nOur upcoming online training session with Junaid Mirza equips Muslim board members with the knowledge\, tools\, and confidence to lead effectively while fulfilling their religious and civic responsibilities in financial oversight. This session marks the first in our series: Financial Stewardship & Compliance for Muslim Not-for-Profit Boards.  \nOn June 24\, 2026\, you will participate in a training workshop designed to help you: \n\nGain confidence in reading budgets\, financial statements\, and audit reports.\nUnderstand your role in approving budgets and monitoring spending.\nLearn to ask the right questions to safeguard community funds.\n\nThe recording and presentation slides will be shared with all those who register\, insha Allah. \nJunaid Mirza is a partner at PwC Canada\, where he leads strategy and consulting for law firms and legal departments. In addition\, Junaid leads PwC Canada’s Entity Governance and Compliance practice\, providing entity and board management services to over 600 entities in Canada. With over 20 years of experience\, Junaid works with boards and executive teams to strengthen accountability\, risk\, oversight\, and financial stewardship. \nJunaid is actively involved in the Muslim community initiatives\, focusing on governance\, excellence\, transparency\, and long-term sustainability. He has served on boards both within and outside the community\, currently serving on the boards of The Muslim Fund and the National Muslim Action Fund. Previously\, Junaid has served on the boards of Muslim Neighbour Nexus\, The Pearson Institute for Progressive Policy\, Working Skills Centre\, Fakih Foundation\, United Way of Halton and Hamilton\, Islamic Finance Advisory Board\, and Multilingual Community Interpreter Services. \nJunaid is also currently pursuing advanced studies in Islamic scholarship\, bringing faith-informed perspectives to institutional leadership and board development. \n*IMPORTANT* We will be sharing the Zoom link with registrants via email shortly before the event (after 5 PM EDT on June 24). SUMMARY:Islamic School Teacher Training: Prophetic Pedagogy and the Sahabi Framework
DESCRIPTION:Transformative Teacher Training for the New School Year  \nGibraltar Leadership Academy\, Durham Campus\, 2944 Audley Rd\, Ajax\, ON L1X 2W1 \nVirtual Attendance Option Available \nIn partnership with Gibraltar Leadership Academy\, Sound Vision Canada is delighted to offer a one-day teacher training program with experts Imam Belal Ahmad and Uzma Ahmed. \nThe interactive workshops explore Prophetic Pedagogy as well as the Sahabi Framework\, a practical six-stage approach that transforms the teaching of the Companions into a journey of personal growth\, personality formation\, and character development.  \nAcquire practical strategies that can be applied across Islamic Studies\, Qur’an\, Seerah\, assemblies\, mentoring\, and wider school life. All attendees will receive the 2026 Sound Vision Canada Teacher Training Workbook and other resources. \n\n\nA Sound Vision Canada certificate will be issued upon completion of the program. Educators\, school administrators\, homeschooling parents\, and aspiring teachers are all welcome. This training is open to full-time\, part-time\, and weekend Islamic School teachers\, as well as anyone passionate about Islamic education.\n\n\n\nTraining Modules:\n\n\nSpiritual Preparation of the Teacher \n\nPrinciples of Islamic Pedagogy\nProphetic Pedagogy in action: Deriving strategies from the interactions of Rasulullah (pbuh) and the Sahabah (ra)\nBringing Prophetic Pedagogy to our classrooms: Considerations and practical tips for the new school year\n\nFrom Knowledge to Character \n\nUnderstanding how the lives of the Sahabah can serve as a framework for character formation\n\nDesigning learning experiences that move students from acquiring knowledge to developing Islamic values\, attitudes\, and behaviours\nPractical classroom strategies that encourage students to reflect on\, internalize\, and emulate the noble qualities of the Sahabah\, equipping them to become positive contributors to their families\, schools\, and communities\n\nImam Belal Ahmad is an Islamic scholar\, school administrator\, and khateeb. He currently serves as the principal of an elementary school within the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. In addition to his role in education\, he runs an after-school maktab program at a local masjid in Hamilton and regularly delivers khutbas at various masajid in the area. Imam Belal is also a director of the Canadian Council of Muslim Theologians (CCMT)\, where he leads the organization’s education department. \n\n\n\nUzma Ahmed is currently the Director of Education and Training at the Institute of Integrated Knowledge and is responsible for the 5D Thinking Model training program. She brings 25 years of experience as an educational consultant\, school principal\, curriculum developer\, researcher in Islamic education\, and teacher trainer for schools worldwide. She also conducts courses on the Qur’an and Seerah and regularly writes material for children of all ages on various topics\, with a special focus on Islamic history and Tarbiyah. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n*IMPORTANT* \nWe will be in touch with registrants via email.
